Road Trip

to Granny Benefield's.

approximately
270 miles there and 270 home.  540 miles round trip.

John McRae done great on the trip, but was very tired of riding by the time we got about an hour into the drive home.  On the way to Roanoke, he done so good.  He is just so rotten and thought we needed to change out dvds every 2 minutes...some times sooner.  We snacked all of the way there (4 hours).
Here are a few pictures from our ride to Granny's.

The Captain

Once we go there, Kevin came for a visit.  This was a treat for me because in the ten years I've been going to Roanoke, I'd never met him.  He was just as comical as everyone had described him to be.
After he left, we had Big Chic for lunch.   John McRae only wanted ice chips.  The kid is addicted to ice.  After eating, Aunt Sue & Uncle Fred came to visit.  We visited a while and then I laid down with John McRae for his three hour nap.  When we awoke, I learned of all of the chores that had been done.  Most importantly, Daniel had filled up John McRae's pool.  We had fun playing with him in the pool before supper. We had take-out from John Boy's.
Here are some photos from pool time.

Here are some pics from Sunday morning.

We headed home around 1PM.  John McRae was ready!  He was in total Elmo withdrawals, because we had not let him watch tv for about 24 hours.  He kept begging and bringing us the remote.  It's amazing that he didn't figure out how to cut it on.  He usually can figure out a remote before any of the rest of us can.
We stopped in Meridian and got Pizza for supper before arriving home around 5PM.  You'd think we would have settled in and rested, but we let John McRae play in the pool until time for bath.
He done so good over the weekend and pretty much stayed on his sleeping schedule.

We are all very glad to be home.  This week will be pretty easy and on Saturday we have a birthday party to attend. JMc and I will probably go see two more Grannies on Sunday (My mom and grandma).  I think JMc was confused all weekend because Granny Benefield was referring to herself as Granny and he was like, "No, you aren't my granny.  She's blonde."

It's going to be a busy three weeks for the Benefields.  We are ready, though. :)  I think JMc needs a calendar to keep up with all of his appointments.  He's such a social butterfly these days!

XOXO,
Stacy
