John McRae @ 37 Months

Yes, 37 months
because THREE years old sounds so much
like a big boy... and not like a baby!

1 - He's finally using the potty.
(insert disbelief here. I had already told him
that when he turned 15, he
was getting a job to support his diaper habit.)

2) He can count to 25, backwards from
15, and to 10 in Spanish.

3) He knows all of the letters of the alphabet and can tell you which words start with what letters.

4) He is sleeping in his own bed, in his own room.
(I promise, this is the real truth and nothing but the truth. Miracles do happen and this is one of them.)

5) He loves playing outside. The sand is his favorite.

6) He's very busy and VERY stubborn.

7) He can work the television remote better than I can.

8) He can take an iPhone, load YouTube, and search for the videos he wants to watch.

9) He loves strawberry milk.

10) He loves snack time.

11) He is obsessed with birthdays and birthday parties.  The cutest thing is when he sings
"Happy Birthday to You and So Many Mooore..."

12) He loves his family and knows everyone by name. You all might not hear him, but he names every family member most every night by saying, "I pray for Grammaw, Paw-Paw, Granny, Paw-Paw & Nana, Mamaw, Wisa, Jess, Aunt Bett, Uncle Gerald, ReeRee Mike, Mama, Daddy, John, My Bubble-Puppy, Fresh Beat Band, Ninny,... and the list goes on. and on. and on.  sometimes until I have to make him stop. =)

13) He loves animals.  My bad, he is obsessed with animals.

14) He loves chicken bock bock and corn.

15) He wants to do everything by himself these days.

16) He is always saying, "Mama, what's dat? What's dat, Mama?"

17) He loves being read to.

18) Nothing would make him any happier than if he grew up to be the lead singer for Fresh Beat Band. The one who raps, of course.

19) He still likes for his Mama to rock him. =)

20) He likes for his Daddy to hold him up to the goal so he can play basket ball.

21) He loves going to the zoo, but cries non-stop for hours when he leaves.

22) He is grateful. He tells us daily, "Thank you for my birthday party."  He also thanks us for every little thing. It is so sweet. If he sees an airplane flying by while we are driving down the road, he says, "Thank you for taking me to see airplane, Mama Dada."

23) He is hung up on knock-knock jokes.
His favorite one goes like this:
JMc: Knock Knock, Mama Dada.
Mama Dada: Who's there?
JMc: Knock Knock, Mama Dada.

Mama Dada together because he will not stop until we say it together: Who's there?
JMc: Animals.
MD: AnimalWho?
JMc: Bunch of animals go hahahahaha!

And my very favorite:
JMc: Knock Knock, MD.

Us: Who's there?
JMc: Banana.
Us: Banana Who?

JMc: Banana.
Us: Banana Who?
JMc: Orange you glad didn't say Banana.
Hahahaha

24) He doesn't forget ANYTHING.

25) He has a sense of direction that amazes us. He knows exactly where we are going, whether it is local or out of state.

26) When he goes into a restaurant and the waiter asks us what we would like to drink, he yells, "I WANT COKE!"

27) He loves for us to draw what he instructs us to.  Then, he does not even look at it before he says to draw something else. He loves art, but just doesn't know how to appreciate it just yet. Ha!

28) He is our biggest blessing.

29) He loves to play the harmonica.

30) He would rather be toted, and at 31 lbs, I still tote him everywhere.

31) He is a climber and isn't scared of anything.  The kid has no fear or concept of danger.  He makes house guests nervous.

32) He is totally cute in a hat and is a snazzy dresser.

33) He is a people person. He speaks to everyone he sees and then tells them goodbye. This is awkward in public, at times. We will be walking down the isle at Wal-Mart and every person we pass..."Hello, Bye!"

34) Folks think he is the cutest. I have to agree.

35) He's incredibly smart and I'm not just saying that because he's my kid! ;)

36) He is beginning to tell us that he is from Korea and he rode on a big airplane.

37) He might not know it, but he makes his Daddy and Me feel like the luckiest folks on Earth.  He tests our patience daily, but never our love!

XOXO,
Stacy

I agree, he is smart. Bates can count to two on most days. Can spell his name (B-O-T) and can identify correct colors about 12% of the time.
Ha!
